In a nutshell

Dig into the artistic and foodie delights of the grit-meets-hip Lower East Side on this immersive tour. As you stroll past the neighborhood’s saloon-style dive bars, retro pizza joints and queue-worthy delis, you will have the opportunity to devour a variety of savory and sweet local snacks.

The walk centers around the themes of creativity, diversity and the changes that have shaped the neighborhood over the years, focusing predominantly on businesses run and owned by women. Host Alexandra will show you some of the area’s best art – whether they are hanging in hole-in-the-wall galleries or painted on brick walls – and introduce you to the proprietors of some of the Lower East Side’s cultural staples. As well as meeting the neighborhood’s diverse characters and exploring the shops and eateries, you will also learn all about the district’s storied history. If you’re still feeling peckish at the end, there is also the option to go for a group brunch.
